The new AirPods Pro is the most recent product of the Apple Audio ecosystem, which complete the AirPods line-up with a more complete product, which offers us more functionality than the classic model, at a higher starting price.

How to use AirPods Pro on Android

As many of you will know, despite the fact that the AirPods and AirPods Pro represent a product designed for the Apple ecosystem, being headphones in the Bluetooth standard they can, in fact, be used on any device equipped with this technology (with some small sacrifices).

For example, one of the limitations that are incurred using the AirPods / AirPods Pro on an Android smartphone is the inability to view the battery level of the headphones, as Apple has adopted a probing system that does not fall within Bluetooth standard.

All the other customization features are also not available, such as the ability to choose the various actions with double tap and the detection of the position of the headphones, which we remind you to be able to automatically pause playback when the headphones are removed from the ear.

There is, however, a loophole to be able to use the brand new AirPods Pro and all the other AirPods models on Android, recovering part of the features that we have described above. It is in fact possible to install an app called AirBuds Popup Free, which will allow you to view the iOS-style pop-up containing the various battery levels.

The app will also allow you to recover the Wearing Detection functionality, while it is impossible to customize the various tap actions. This application also has a very useful functionality, especially for owners of the old non-Pro AirPods, called “Assistive Listening”.

Basically, “Assistive Listening” will use the microphone of your smartphone to switch the ambient audio to the headphones, thus introducing a sort of Transparency Mode (albeit with a slight delay due to the signal processing and transmission time).

However, to get all the above features, you will need to purchase the Pro version of AirBuds Popup, from the cost of € 1.29. In any case, the application would seem to work very well with all types of AirPods currently on the market, therefore we would recommend it as an aid to using the AirPods / AirPods Pro at best on an Android device.
