Google Photos gets new in the options menu

These options allowed you to share the selected photo through other applications, add the image to albums, delete the image even if it’s in the cloud, or buy a print of the photo (such as a photo album containing several photos, or a print on canvas). After the latest update, when long-pressed on a photo, a pop-up menu will appear at the bottom of the screen offering to share the image through other apps, add it to your albums, order photos, do the backup the image to the cloud, bookmark it, archive it, delete the image from the device (but keep it in the cloud), and edit its location.

Google Photos is changing the way users can select an action they want to happen to a particular image. Previously, when you pressed a photo image in the application for a long time, the actions appeared in the upper right corner of the screen in the form of icons. These options allowed you to share the selected photo through other applications, add the image to albums, delete the image even if it’s in the cloud, or buy a print of the photo (such as a photo album containing several photos, or a print on canvas).

Left to right, before and after update

You can use this tab to find quick links to friends and family with whom you can quickly share the picture. You can also quickly add the image to one of your albums. After the update, the only thing you will see at the top is a counter showing how many images you selected and an “X” to make a new choice and delete the current selection.

As usual, when it comes to one of Google’s server-side updates, you may or may not find the new UI already working on your phone. The update was seen in Google Photos build 5.70.0.413477203. Since this is a server-side upgrade, there is no action to be taken to install it on demand.
